This temple is called Thalpagiri Kshetram in which Thalpam means swamy in Reclining position and giri means Mountain,the total meaning behind this is swamy staring at pinakini River while resting on the mountain.Ananthapadmanabha swamy temple at thiruvananthapuram,srirangam in tamilnadu and Nellore Ranganathaswamy temple,these three are naturally originated and not specially constructed.So these are very powerful and ranganathaswamy means Lord Vishnu avatar.

 

Gaali Gopuram which is referred as Wind Tower will be before the primary door of the temple, Temple tower is 70 feet high that is surrounded by 10 feet gold plated ships.On the walls of the temple sahasranamvali is written that is 1000 names of Lord vishnu which makes the devotees to chant and do pradakshina.According to vaishnava tradition for mukkoti pushpa pallaki will be held and also for all the special occasions also.

Where it is Located

 

It is located on the banks of River Penna that is in Nellore district,there are plenty of transportation facilities to reach this place. you can also book a cab in Nellore to visit this temple

 

Prominence and specialty of place

 

 The Grand Festival(Tiranalu) is celebrated every year in the month of March to April based on the Telugu calendar.In this temple the Swamy will be resting position that is sleep position which is seen in only a few temples.For every temple there will be some positive energies that will surely touch souls and pass positive vibes due to years of energy that is in the temple.

Temple will be facing towards west,river Penna flows on the west side of temple.The main entrance of the temple is from south and the eye feast of Swamy in sleeping position with goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi at his feet.Another special thing is great poet Tikkana translated Mahabharata in this temple only.

 

*In the year 1879 Sri Yeragadipati Venkatachalam Garu established the Raja Gopuram in the east side of the temple.

 

*The temple was called as Vykuntam in the 12th century,later on in the 17th it was named as Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy temple that is still the same.

 

*Bramhostav is very prominent in this temple as that is the only period where the entrance will be from the North side;lakhs of people will visit the temple for that special Darshan at that time.

 

*The main attraction of this place is the mirror house for visitors.Don’t miss to have an eye on sri krishna image that will stare you in all directions you look at that picture.

*Morning from 6:30 to 12:00 . You can visit the Ranganathaswamy temple in between 6:30 AM and 12:00 PM . At this time priest can perform Archana’s and Pooja’s

*Evening 4:30 to 8:00 If you missed morning time you can also visit in between 4:30 PM and 8 PM to perform the Pooja’s and Archana’s
